The ATC in Karachi Central Jail transferred the case on the directives of Sindh High Court. The next hearing of the case will be held in Islamabad ATC on July 19.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had filed the plea for the transfer of the case arguing that there is a danger of the security situation in the city worsening. The lawyers pursuing the case are also coming under pressure.
The court had accepted the bail of former MQM senator Ahmed Ali against the surety of Rs2 million in the case. The MQM founder, Babar Ghauri, Tariq Mir, Khwaja Rehan Mansoor, Sohail Mansoor and others are on the run and arrest warrants of these accused have been issued.
FIA registered the case against MQM founder and others on a complaint filed by Sarfaraz Merchant. The accused allegedly carried out money laundering through KKF.
Ranjhani murder case
Another ATC rejected the bail plea filed by accused Raheem Shah in Irshad Ranjhani murder case. The court also rejected the report declaring sub-inspector Amir Riaz, DSP Shaukat Shahani and Hassan Ali innocent.
The court said that the case would be pursued against all three accused. Ranjhani was killed in firing by Raheem Shah in Bhains Colony.
