CDA-DWP to approve leftover projects in second meeting

Revised PC-Is for development work in Sectors I-14, E-12 and I-15 likely to be approved

ISLAMABAD: The top civic authority of the federal capital is expected to reconvene its key projects development group for the second time in a month to review and approve projects for the city.

A meeting of the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) is expected to be held soon.

Sources disclosed that projects, including a revised project concept-I (PC-I) for development work in Sector I-14, revised PC-I for development in Sector E-12 and a revised PC-I for the development of Sector I-15 are likely to be approved.

Similarly, the meeting is expected to seek approval for extending the time to complete development work in Park Enclave.

Furthermore, the meeting will also review the PC-I for shifting and building pedestrian bridges in Islamabad. A PCI in for a grade-separation facility at the intersection of Seventh Avenue with Khyaban-e-Subharwardi is also slated to be approved.

The PC-1 of these projects were revised and rectified after legal objections were raised on them in the last meeting CDA-DWP meeting.

Work on two flyovers and underpasses as well widening IJP Road has begun after the projects were approved during the first meeting of the CDA-DWP held earlier this month.

The last meeting also decided to review some other projects after the rectifications in the next meeting.

NHA removes encroachment along Murree Road

The CDA, Islamabad Capital Administration (ICT) and the National Highways Authority (NHA) during a combined operation conducted along the Murree Road, in the Bara Kahu area, demolishing several constructions and encroachments.

These encroachments were not only affecting traffic flow but also disturb the pedestrian movement in the vicinity. Moreover, tourists, commuters using Murree Road to approach Muree Hill station have to face difficulties due to these encroachments and were the main cause of traffic jam in the area. Similarly, action against encroachments established by the buildings and institutions on the right of way or beyond the plot line along the major avenues of the city is also being carried out vigorously.
