EPI health programme in full swing

Hospitals participating in the national drive to take preventive measures and effectively fight chronic diseases

RAWALPINDI: The national Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI), which started in all tehsils of Rawalpindi district on May 7, is in full swing, District Health Officer (DHO-Health) Dr Zeeshan Ahmed said on Wednesday.

Dr Ahmed stated that the Punjab government was actively following a disease prevention programme to reduce illness, disability and mortality rate under the EPI, under the sustainable development goals.

Under the ongoing vigorous drive, the DHO told the media that lady health workers, health centres, allied hospitals and tehsil headquarters hospitals were participating in the national drive to take preventive measures and effectively fight chronic diseases such as polio, measles, Pertussis, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis-B and Tuberculosis.
