Armeena Khan's views about female doctors gets people fuming

Outraged followers took to Twitter in retaliation of her comments

Outspoken actor Armeena Khan has landed herself in hot water after calling out women who refrain from practicing as doctors on social media.

The Janaan star, who is extremely active on the micro-blogging site with her straight-forward views, tweeted that 85,000 female doctors are not practicing after getting an qualification and it sounded to some like she was criticising the women for it.

Outraged followers took to Twitter pointing out that it’s the men and the toxic mentality Pakistani society is still holding on to, which prevents women from not just fulfilling their dreams but also fails to recognize them as active members of society.

People were also quick to point out that it's diminishing to blame women for the shortage of doctors in the country as there are numerous socio-cultural barriers that stops them in the first place.

Others have retorted that 'insecure men' do the same as what Armeena claims some female qualified doctors do.

One user tweeted that some orthodox families are also to blame because despite wanting to see their daughters succeed in the medical field, jaldi se shadi krdo iski takes precedence.

The retaliations just kept coming.

Another point to the argument was also shared, pointing fingers at the male doctors who leave the country hunting for better opportunities.

The star clarified her Twitter statement after the hoards of backlash, explaining that it is in fact the guardians who make decisions should be held responsible and that women are not free to choose their own careers.

Despite all the explanations as to why some might view choice is a privilege many don't have in Pakistan, it seems to have not sunken in with Armeena.  Let's see if this Twitter feud continues.
