Punjab chief secretary reviews Ramazan arrangements

Also directed concerned authorities to ensure a strict check on quality of goods

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokhar on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to increase the number of price control magistrates in the province. While presiding over a meeting on price control at his office, he reviewed measures for monitoring prices of essential items and the arrangements made for Ramazan bazaars. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure a strict check on quality of goods and demand and supply situation during Ramazan. The chief secretary said under the Punjab government’s Ramazan package, flour, sugar, pulses and vegetables would be available on subsidised rates. The meeting was briefed that 968 price control magistrates have been deputed to check prices in the province. Secretary food, Secretary implementation and coordination, commissioner Lahore division, deputy commissioner and the officers concerned attended the meeting.
