GUJRANWALA: A woman was allegedly sexually harassed by her brother-in-law in Gujranwala's Sadhuke area, Express News has learnt.

An official from Saddar police station said that Z*, a resident of Muslim Chak, tied the knot with Saeed, a resident of Tibba Muhammad Nagar, four years ago.

He added that soon after the marriage, the woman's husband went abroad for work. He said that with time, the victim's brother-in-law, Owais, started sexually harassing her.

The official highlighted that the accused took indecent photos of the woman and blackmailed her. He demanded money fromthe victim and threatened to upload the pictures on social media if she failed to pay up, he revealed. He said that when the woman complained about the matter to the family's elders and the suspect begged for forgiveness from her over his actions.

However, the official revealed that after some time, Owais again started sexually harassing the victim and demanded Rs0.5 million from her. He said the woman lodged a complaint against the accused at the police station, while raids were being conducted to arrest him.

Reportedly, S*, a resident of Moza Jamalke Targar, had married Shahid. However, her brother-in-law Muhammad Zafar wanted to develop relations with her and she refused. The accused tried to force himself on her several times.

On the day of the incident, she was alone in the house and busy cleaning when Zafar barged in. The culprit grabbed her hair and took her to one of the rooms. He tore her clothes and tried to sexually assault her. When she put up resistance, the suspect brutally tortured her and escaped.
