Heroin worth millions recovered from dual national woman at Islamabad airport

Two security personnel and a porter also taken into custody for helping the accused

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) thwarted a bid to smuggle drugs abroad and arrested a dual national woman for carrying heroin worth millions of rupees at the New Islamabad Airport on Sunday.

In an intelligence based operation, Kausar Younus, a British-Pakistani woman hailing from Mirpur, was arrested by the ANF officials from the airport's departure lounge after she managed to get herself and her luggage cleared from all check points.Passport Smuggling

The 13kg heroin, concealed in leather begs in liquid form, was recovered upon inspection officials said, adding that the suspect intended to go Vienna via Doha, Qatar.

Informed sources told The Express Tribune that the two security personnel and a porter had also been taken into custody for allegedly helping the accused.

ANF officials have also confirmed the involvement of the security personnel and said that they were being interrogated.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Czech national, Tereza Hluskova, was sentenced to over eight years in prison after being found guilty of smuggling narcotics.

During a hearing at a lower court in Lahore, Judge Shehzad Raza announced the detailed verdict and sentenced the Czech model to eight years and eight months in prison. She was also fined over Rs1.4 million.
