As part of a Clean and Green Pakistan campaign, officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) planted a large number of saplings during the week-long campaign from March 18 to 24.

Up till now, NHA officials have planted more than 76,105 saplings with this process expected to continue throughout the season.

Presently NHA is implementing a comprehensive plan for afforestation along the existing highway network and new mega projects, particularly in Peshawar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Under this campaign, NHA’s Highway and Motorway Network is being cleaned and beautified with the cooperation of Ministry of Climate Change, the K-P Forests Department and the Parks and Horticulture Authority.

NHA hopes to plant a further 2.6 million trees with assistance from the Climate Change Ministry while the K-P Agriculture Department is also looking to provide 11,000 olive plants to the NHA.
