Public-sector employees to lose select privileges

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has decided to take back select privileges from public-sector employees, Express 24/7 reported on Monday.

The decision was taken during a special cabinet meeting in Islamabad.

The privileges include free electricity, free air tickets, rebates in gas bills and free telephone calls.

Free electricity units ranging from 200 to 1,100 units for WAPDA, PEPCO, LESCO, FESCO, HESCO and KESCO employees will be taken back.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees will not be able to enjoy the privilege of free tickets.

Facilities of rebates in gas bills for Sui Gas workers and free telephone calls for PTCL employees have also been taken back.
