How to buy: Lipstick

KARACHI: How should a good lipstick make you feel?

Lipstick is the ultimate feel-good beauty product. It can brighten up your face more than anything else in your cosmetic bag. Lipstick shades really reflect your personality and it should make you feel pretty and confident, ready to take on the world.

What are the five key things women should keep in mind before buying a lipstick?

First of all, lipsticks that claim to be non-transferrable usually dry out the lips and are very hard to remove at the end of the day. A good lipstick should hydrate your lips and keep them healthy, so I recommend avoiding the non-transferable ones. Ideally you should buy two or three lipsticks which are versatile and can be used for day wear and evening wear. A nice rosy pink and peachy/ coral shade for day wear and a deeper or brighter shade for evening.

What is the biggest mistake women in Pakistan make when buying lipstick?

The most common mistake women make when shopping for lipstick is picking up the palest pink from the range of shades, thinking it will be the safest colour. When it is actually applied, it does nothing for the complexion and washes you out. Take some time to try different shades on your fingertips as lipsticks look much darker in the tube.

If you could choose one unconventional lip color that you wish would catch on in Pakistan it would be…?

Coral! A lot of girls seem to be afraid of this pinky-orange shade which is extremely flattering to our skin tone.

Who has the best pout in Pakistan?

There are a lot of great pouts around and it would be unfair to single one out. Fayeza Ansari, Iman Ali, and Juggun have great pouts.
