Literature festival

The organisers must work towards making the festival for the purpose of propagation of literature

KARACHI: The Karachi Literature Festival has begun its 10th edition albeit with less of zeal and fervour among people. This time around due to tensions with India and suspension of flights operation, many could not attend the event, and the festival itself seems to have lost its sense and direction over the years.

A majority who attends the event is now of those who are not genuinely interested in literary setup in the country but rather who meet and greet the famous names who are in attendance. Similarly, panels too have many as speakers for their names and not for their contribution to the field they are invited to speak about. The organisers must work towards making the festival for the purpose of propagation of literature.
