Rescue 1122 to train 400 female police recruits

The series of training is based on internationally recognised Community Action for Disaster Response (CADRE) course

LAHORE: The Emergency Services Academy (ESA) Rescue 1122 has started the training of 400 female police recruits from Police Training College Lahore to enhance the emergency response skills of police staff as first responders and train them for effective coordination in case of an emergency or disaster.

The series of training on internationally recognised Community Action for Disaster Response (CADRE) course has been planned on the request of Police Training College Lahore commandant at Safety Wing of Academy. Under the training plan, over 400 girl cadets will be trained in 14 training sessions on CADRE course and each training session will be consisting of four-day long training followed by simulation exercise of disaster response.

In accordance with the programme, the training of the third batch consisting of 32 female cadets from Police Training College Lahore (PTCL) was started on February 25 and concluded on February 28 at the Emergency Services Academy.

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of CADRE training, Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said well-sensitised and trained emergency personnel from police and rescue services were great assets. “The professional working understanding of both organisations is highly important in order to manage any disaster in a professional manner and minimise the risk of converting emergency into a big disaster,” he said.

He further said all professionals of emergency services need to ensure a uniform standard of CADRE training while responding to any emergency and disaster. Earlier, 64 female recruits have trained in the first two training sessions.

The senior officers including Course Monitor Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Course Coordinator Muhammad Ahsan, Head of Community Safety and Information Deeba Shahnaz and the team of instructors imparted training to the recruits through lectures followed by simulation exercise of disaster response.
