ISLAMABAD: Textile is an important sector of Pakistan in terms of economic growth, investment and employment as it contributes around 46% to manufacturing and over 60% to total exports. These were the opening remarks of Commerce Secretary Mohammad Younus Dagha during a briefing session on Texpo 2019 exhibition, a platform for the promotion of Pakistan’s textile sector. “The main objective of holding Texpo is to showcase Pakistan’s potential in textile,” noted Dagha. “It is expected to facilitate foreign buyers in establishing contacts with local textile businesses for mutual benefit.” The main focus of the expo would be on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), he said. The event is set to take place from April 11-14, 2019. The commerce secretary reiterated the government’s firm commitment to developing export-friendly policies.
