"Budget providing relief to those who deserve it"

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh says the gap in quality of amenities provided to retired government servants of different grades will be shortened.

Speaking at a post budget press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, Sheikh said income tax relief provided in the Budget is the highlight of allocations, provisions and concessions for the incoming fiscal year 2010-2011.

Hafeez Sheikh said social sector allocations have been increased as far as the budget in concerned. He added that the Finance Ministry has tried to make a budget that people can understand comfortably.

He said the budget also marks a beginning where provinces have become key players in the economy with more funds and allocations at their disposal.

Speaking to media during the conference, Hafeez Sheikh said providing relief to people that truly deserve it is top priority of the government in the budget.
