Officials to devise plan to improve traffic flow

CM asks departments concerned to finalise their recommendations

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed departments concerned to devise a detailed plan to improve the traffic flow at entry and exit points of Lahore and other big cities.

The chief minister asked departments to finalise their recommendations following proper planning so that effective measures could be adopted to ensure the smooth flow of traffic at such points.  The flow of traffic at entry and exit points will have to be improved through traffic re-engineering and management, he added.

Effective management of the traffic system will help facilitate the people visiting big cities, he said. The best traffic system also symbolises a civilised society; therefore, practical measures should be taken to managing the traffic system at entry and exit points in the best way. In this regard, comprehensive planning should be made so that people coming or leaving big cities could be fully facilitated.

The chief minister said that agencies concerned are responsible to save the citizens from traffic problems by improving management. He added that practical steps should be taken to facilitate citizens so that they may be accommodated at entry and exit points, he said.

Buzdar said that agencies concerned will have to be fully prepared to meet the emerging challenges of traffic management resulting due to increasing population. Buzdar maintained that the problems faced by the people due to traffic-clogging at entry and exit points of different cities are simply unimaginable. "It is the collective responsibility of agencies concerned to improve the traffic system to ease the lives of the public.

The chief minister said that innovative steps will have to be taken through dexterous use of technology and management skills for improving the flow of traffic at different entry and exit points.
