Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh has been the talk of town lately. First it was his wedding to co-star Deepika Padukone that got fans excited. This was followed by his role in Simmba and rapping skills in Gully Boy. Now, he's making waves as he gears up for his role as Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in his upcoming film titled '83, reported Pinkvilla. Dev captained the Indian Cricket team that won the first World Cup for India back in 1983.

The Padmaavat star has begun training for his role and even shared a picture of himself on Instagram with a caption that read, "And the glorious journey begins... #kapildev." Ranveer was captured mid swing on the field, sporting shin pads and a cap.

'83 will be helmed by Tubelight director Kabir Khan. As far as the cast is concerned, it's quite up in the air. There have been many speculations regarding Deepika joining Ranveer in the lead however, nothing is confirmed as of yet.

In fact, reports state that the Tamasha star has declined to work with her husband on this film. Why? Well, apparently the role isn't significant enough. Since '83 is essentially about the Indian captain,  the role of Kapil's wife will not be central to the story and of course, Deepika being the superstar that she is, cannot take up such a small role.

"'83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it,”  revealed a source.
