QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said the provincial government is making efforts for the development of various sectors in the province including agriculture, water and industries.

The chief minister was speaking in Quetta at a national security workshop titled ‘Governance Challenges and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Prospects’ on Wednesday.
Kamal spoke about the last four months of his government's performance and also answered questions during the event.

The incumbent government is also serious about revamping the education sector of the province.
Among its priorities, one of the tasks is to digitalise the education system and provide modern facilities at educational institutions of the province.

This was discussed by the chief minister in a meeting with Sargodhian Spirit Trust (SST) Chairman Tasneem Noorani on Tuesday.

Provincial Minister for Information and Higher Education Zahoor Buledi, Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Noor Muhammad Dummar and Planning and Development additional secretary were present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the chairman spoke about SST’s contribution to the field of education, adding that the trust in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force is working on various educational development projects in the country.

“The SST has established a cadet college in Sindh's Rashidabad and we intend to build similar ones in Nowshera and Quetta,” Noorani told the CM, soliciting the provincial government’s cooperation in establishing a cadet college in Samungli Airbase.

Lauding the initiative of the trust, Kamal assured Noorani of full cooperation from the government to establish a cadet college in Quetta.

Meanwhile a delegation from the Doctors Action Committee led by Chairman Dr Zahir Khan Mandokhail met CM Kamal to discuss the sense of insecurity among doctors in Quetta after the abduction of Dr Ibrahim Khalil.

Kamal said law enforcement agencies have been making all-out efforts for the safe recovery of the kidnapped doctor.

“The government of Balochistan will not be negligent about cases of kidnapping and other crimes. We accept that the government has previously failed to control kidnapping for ransom and that it has been projecting a negative image of the provincial government among the people,” Kamal told the delegation and reassured them of fully protecting people's lives and properties.

The information minister, MPA Asghar Khan Achakzai and Adviser to CM Malik Naeem Bazai were among the attendees at the meeting.

The CM said the government is taking definitive measures to maintain order in the province.
“Our government has approved the Quetta Safe City Project, which was delayed for six years, while the Eagle Force has been patrolling streets."

Stressing that doctors should call off strikes at government hospitals, Kamal said it has directly affected the underprivileged,  especially as they cannot handle the expenses of being treated privately. “For the sake of humanity, doctors should call off their strike and join hands with the provincial government for improving the health sector in Balochistan,” he added.
