LAHORE:

The electricity connection at the central jail in Kot Lakhpat was cut off by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) for non-payment of dues.

Lesco sources say that the prisons department has to pay Rs260 million while the Kot Lakhpat jail is Rs30 million in debt.

While the police and jail administration has installed generators for their offices, the prisoners have been provided with hand-fans.

The electricity connection of the elite jail training institute has also been disconnected.

Lesco has also sent notices to many other police stations and offices for the payment of their dues.

Such is the situation of the majority of Pakistanis, the squeezed lifeline of the country is continuously paralysing their senses. It is a simple law of physics: the more you oppress, the more it shall resist!
