LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that 2019 is the year of fulfilling the promises made to the people. The government has chalked out a comprehensive roadmap for durable development and prosperity in the province. He expressed these views while speaking to different delegations at the chief minister’s office on Tuesday.

The era of hollow slogans has come to an end. People will witness the practical measures adopted by us, he said. “The government has focused on providing necessary facilities to people. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government has set a new example by introducing meaningful reforms in a short span of time,” he said.

A constructive and result oriented strategy will be adopted to facilitate the common man. Similarly, the journey of development and prosperity, which was started in 2018 with the utmost transparency, will be accelerated with renewed commitment and passion, he said.

He voiced his regret over the fact that precious resources were wasted on exhibitory projects in the past. State institutions went bankrupt and incorrect policies added to the problems faced by citizens. The menace of corruption weakened the foundation of the country. “As a result, the PTI government inherited a devastated economy,” he said.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the country is moving in the right direction. The main agenda of the government is to provide immediate solutions for public problems and basic facilities to the people, he said.

The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and steps have been taken to promote merit and transparency, the chief minister said. We have been given the opportunity to serve the public and we will try to come up to peoples’ expectations. ‘Naya Pakistan’ will become a reality in 2019, he said.
