Rough year for teachers in Faisalabad

During the year, 140 new instructors and assistant education officers were appointed

FAISALABAD: During 2018, 56 teachers from the Education Department, Faisalabad were dismissed from their jobs. Overall, 76 instructors were fined or had their salaries deducted. For the first time in the district’s history, 35 female teachers were suspended for having bogus degrees while seven other female teachers were suspended for continuous absences. Further, the salaries of 305 teachers were deducted while 104 were given warnings, four were censured and inquiries were initiated against 97 others.

During the year, 140 new instructors and assistant education officers were appointed. After CEO Ali Ahmed Siyan and DEO Khalid Akhtar took charge, the performance and ranking of the department improved from 26th to 9th. Further, new computer labs, classrooms and other projects were completed at elementary and secondary schools at a cost of Rs70 million. In addition, the Education Department, Faisalabad transferred 501 teachers including the heads of four schools during the second phase on Monday. Meanwhile, 198 male PST, 92 male EST, 109 female PST and 97 female EST educators were also transferred.
