PLF meeting: Call to dismiss NAB deputy public prosecutor

Meeting unanimously decides to dismiss membership of three senior PLF members.

Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF) dismissed the membership of Deputy Attorney Generals (DAGs) and Deputy Public Prosecutor General (DPPG) NAB Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa for violating discipline of the forum.


A PLF meeting was held here at Peshawar High Court (PHC) with PLF President Shakeel Gilani as presiding over the meeting.

Other members including General Secretary Sabitullah Khalil, Provincial President Jameel Siraf, Joint Secretary Mian Jamal Shah, Divisional President Pir Fida, Central Vice President Ijaz Momand,  and Muhammad Imtiaz Khalil present.

According to a press release issued here, the meeting unanimously decided to dismiss the membership of the three senior PLF members, DAGs Iqbal Momand, and Khurshed Khan, and DPPG Jamal Khattak over allegations that they did not vote in favour of the PLF presidential candidate Pir Fida for the bar elections 2011-12.

It further stated that the dismissed members were not allowed to cast their vote due to non-payment of annual bar association arrears.

The meeting demanded that the PLF central president of and federal minister for law terminate them from their posts.

PLF members present at the meeting also expressed concern over the uncaring attitude towards lawyers shown by their party and announced a boycott of all meetings of the party while renouncing any privileges received from the PPP. The meeting also called for a provincial convention.
