Govt prepares draft on polythene bags law

Draft related to thickness of polythene bags has been prepared

LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to amend the law on the use of polythene bags. A draft has been prepared for the amendment of law related to thickness of bags.

In this context, the department of environmental protection has sent the draft to the ministry of law for legal opinion.

The increase in thickness of shopping bags from 15 micron to 40 micron and Oxo biodegradable plastic are suggested in the draft. According to the report of department of environmental protection that if hot food items were kept in plastic bags it was bad for health.
