PESHAWAR: The chief of the provincial economic zones company has refuted allegations of using influence or ties within the provincial administration to secure his post.

In a statement released by the Khyber-Pukhtunkhawa Economic Zones Development Management Company (K-PEZDMC) Chef Executive Officer (CEO) Saeed Ahmed Khan on Tuesday, he strongly refuted baseless, malicious and vengeful reports published against him.

Two employees of the KPEZDMC have gone to the Supreme Court against the CEO’s February appointment after one of them had been transferred on charges of corruption and is currently facing a probe while the other is currently under scrutiny for slacking in performance and has been absent truant from work for the past three months. Saeed is accused of subverting the appointment procedure.

However, the K-PEZDMC chief stated that he is an engineer who had been working abroad, in Canada with the Canadian government and in Saudi Arabia with a blue-chip international company, for the past 20 years and has no ties with anyone in KhyberPakhtunkhwa in any capacity. Accusations of using influence in the hiring process, were hence, completely baseless.

Moreover, he stated that he had been appointed after being selected by the company’s board of directors following a transparent procedure. He also refuted accusations of receiving a salary from his previous employer while working for the K-PEZDMC, noting that these accusations had been laid to rest after he provided documentary evidence regarding the termination of his contract from his previous employer to the Human Rights Committee of the K-PEZDMC’s board. Allegations of racism were also termed as ill-founded and ridiculous.
