Security tightened for Eid Miladun Nabi

QUETTA: Eid Miladun Nabi will be observed today (Wednesday) with great religious fervour in Balochistan.

In all 13 processions of Eid Miladun Nabi will be taken out in the provincial capital. The main procession would commence at 8:30am from Saryab Road. It will culminate at 2pm on Pir Abdul Khair Road.
Moreover, the provincial government has imposed Section 144 in Quetta for the day.

Over 3,000 personnel of police and Frontier Corps (FC) will be deployed for the security of the 13 processions in the provincial capital. Meanwhile, six walkthrough gates will be installed at the entrance of every procession’s route.

In addition, as per the directives of the federal government, mobile phone services will be suspended during the day.

Earlier on Saturday, Quetta DIG Abdul Razzak Cheema had said that no threat alert had been issued for the day but the police would keep an eye on information regarding terrorist activities.

During the day, religious conferences will be arranged in all major cities of the country, including Quetta. In all these conferences, the majestic personality of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will be discussed, while a large number of other religious gatherings have also been arranged.

The streets and buildings of Quetta city have been decorated with colourful lights and flags.
