RAWALPINDI: Former chief justice of Pakistan Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui's widow and son were fired at by members of a land mafia in Rawalpindi.

Siddiqui family's 600-square yard plot in the Federal Shariat Court Employees Cooperative Housing Society at Murree Judicial Housing Complex is being illegally grabbed by the land mafia.

According to Afnan Saeeduzzaman, his late father had purchased the plot in 1992.

Afnan lodged a case with the local police on Saturday, stating that when he and his mother had gone to their property to asses building a boundary wall on Friday, assailants opened fire at them.

Land grabbers issued ‘red notices’

He added that the armed men, identified as Irfanullah, Inayatullah Khan and two others,  also illegally confined them momentarily along with three other persons, as well as, threatened them of dire consequences if they did not relinquish the plot.

Taking notice of the incident, CCPO Rawalpindi Abbas Ahsan directed the SP Sadar to bring the culprit to book at the earliest.

Earlier on November 4, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) had decided to retrieve its 48 kanal expensive land worth billions of rupees in the city’s important and most expensive areas. In the first phase, 17 influential people who have grabbed the same number of properties have been issued red notices.
