Published: November 16, 2018

Renowned lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar and Bollywood veteran actor Shabana Azmi arrived in Lahore on Thursday to attend 4th Faiz International Festival.

The couple entered Pakistan via Wagha Border, Express News reported and will be staying over the weekend to be a part of the three-day event.

Akhtar also met Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar at the governor house and reciprocated his message of peace and love. The Governor said that Pakistan believes in peace and wishes to establish a harmonious relationship with all its neighbouring countries.

Azmi also expressed her desire for peace and better relationships between Pakistan and India.  “I have come to Pakistan with a message of peace and strongly believe that both countries should have cordial relations,” she told the media.

“It is an honour for us to host this event and have numerous guests attending. Everyone who participates is a guest of honour for us,” stated Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s daughter, Salima Hashmi in an earlier statement.

The festival is scheduled to run from November 16 to November 18  at Lahore’s Alhamra Arts Council.

Javed Akhtar is one of the living legends. I have been a big fan of his work from “Afreen Afreen” to “Waqt”. Welcome to Pakistan Sir. I hope you have a good time here. Ignore the negative comments made below/above as most of us seldom read books and thus are ignorant about the outstanding work you have done in the field of literature.Recommend

It’s great to see our brother and sister come to see us.
There is no better way to tie the threads of our relations we have broken 80 years ago due to the chaos and because of our silliness.
Wish you all the best Javed and Shabana!
May you live a good prosperous life and keep us feeling proud of your good work.
Love and respect for all our Indian siblings!Recommend
