SADIQABAD:

A four-year-old girl died on Tuesday after reportedly being given the incorrect injection at a private hospital in Sadiqabad. The victim’s family protested against the incident and accused the doctor of being negligent. Speaking to Express News, the victim’s father Jandura, a resident of Basti Almani, said that he and his family had brought Safina Bibi to a local hospital in Ahmedpur Lamah after she had complained of pain.

After waiting for a while, Doctor Tariq Saeed examined his daughter and administered an injection.

“After a few minutes, my daughter’s condition deteriorated and she fell unconscious,” the father recalled. “She died in the hospital,” he lamented.

After the incident, the victim’s family staged a demonstration against the doctor’s negligence. Protesters shouted slogans against the hospital’s administration and demanded action against the accused doctor.

When contacted, Tariq Saeed told Express News that he was a qualified doctor. “The girl’s father brought an injection along with him and asked me to give it to his daughter,” he maintained

“I refused to administer the injection to the victim without a prescription. However, because of his repeated requests, I administered the injection to the girl,” he said.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against the accused. A police official from Ahmedpur Lamah police station said that Tariq had escaped from the health facility after the tragic incident. He added that the police were conducting raids and the culprit will be arrested soon.

Earlier, a 40-year-old man died after reportedly being given the wrong injection at a private clinic in Gujranwala.

Police said Mansha, a resident of Fareed Town, was suffering from a fever. He went to a private clinic in the area which was run by Doctor Azmat. After examining the patient, the doctor administered an injection. However, after a few minutes, Mansha’s condition deteriorated and he passed away.
