ATC had been waiting on Sindh High Court's decision

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday approved moving Naqeebullah Mehsud’s murder trial to an anti-terrorism court (ATC), Express News reported.

Naqeebullah’s father had requested the move and Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali Sheikh, who was presiding over the hearing, ordered the murder case against Rao Anwar be heard in an ATC.

The investigation officer, SSP Dr Rizwan, presented the final report regarding the accused to an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on October 31.

The court had remarked that the plea pertaining to the transfer of the case to another court is being heard by the Sindh High Court. Thus, till the high court announces its verdict, the court could not proceed.

Former Malir SSP Rao Anwar and other accused appeared before the court. According to the SSP’s report, SHO Amanullah Marwat, Shoaib Shooter and 12 others are still in hiding. Raids have been conducted for their arrest. Permission was sought to declare them absconders.
