The nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Jamshed Iqbal Cheema were rejected for being incomplete.
While papers of another PTI candidate Waleed Iqbal have been accepted, and objections raised by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Saud Majeed over the former’s candidature have been rejected.

The decision in the case of Majeed’s objections on Iqbal’s nomination was reserved and then announced a few hours later.
The Punjab election commissioner accepted the nomination papers of all other candidates.
For the women’s seat, returning officer approved the nomination papers of seven candidates -- Saira Afzal Tarar, Robina Shaheen, Tanzeela Imran, Seemi Eizdi, Ishrat Ahsraf, Aasheema Shuja and Dr Zarqa Taimoor.
The two Senate seats in Punjab fell vacant after Sadia Abbasi, sister of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and PML-N leader Haroon Akhtar Khan were disqualified for possessing dual nationalities.
