Cop gunned down in DI Khan

Two unidentified, armed assailants had opened fired at him

DI KHAN: Unidentified gunmen on Monday shot a police officer within the high-security cantonment area in the district and fled.

The Dera Ismail Khan District Police Office (DPO), in a statement, said that Head Constable Muhammad Nadeem was heading to his assigned post —judicial magistrate court 2 at the Dera Ismail Khan Judicial Complex — early on Monday morning, when two unidentified, armed assailants fired at him.

Rescue 1122 collected his body from the spot and shifted it to the district headquarters hospital for an autopsy.

After the legal formalities were completed, his funeral prayers were offered at the Dera Ismail Khan Police Lines.

The funeral was attended by Brigadier Rao Imran, District Police Officer Zahoor Babar Afridi, Deputy Commissioner Numan Afzal Afridi along with notables of the district.
