Minister issues final warning to LWMC

Minister says it is deplorable that billions of rupees were being spent but outcome of LWMC is not up to the mark

LAHORE: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has expressed his displeasure over the situation of cleanliness in Lahore and has given the final warning to the senior officers of solid waste management.

Giving a two-day’s deadline to Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Furrukh Qayyum Butt and General Manager Operations Sohail Malik, the minister categorically said if the quality of work was not improved by Saturday, both the officers would be sent packing.

“From the first day in the government, everyone has been given equal opportunity to perform. We cannot remain silent on the public complaints and people responsible for the mismanagement will be taken to task,” he warned. The minister said it was deplorable that billions of rupees were being spent but the outcome of LWMC was not up to the mark.

He directed the authorities to immediately terminate all the ghost employees and those who could not perform well. Abdul Aleem Khan said he himself would monitor the daily progress.

Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan was also given a briefing by Special Secretary Local Government Mukhtar Ahmed on the working and update of the LWMC.
