Gas pipeline explosion in Gujranwala hospital leaves 4 dead

Four people were killed and 20 injured in an explosion early Sunday morning outside a private hospital in Khiyali Town, Gujranwala.

The explosion was caused when a gas pipeline burst into flames just outside a cardiac hospital on Sheikhupura Road.

The hospital's canteen manager was standing nearby and died on the spot. The explosion caused a bank building in the hospital premises to collapse.

The bank’s guard and electrician were crushed under the rubble. Their bodies were recovered early in the morning.

A patient in the hospital also passed away due to shock after hearing the loud explosion.

The injured people were rushed to the district headquarters hospital.

Private contractors who import huge amounts of material stuff to the government have for the past year imported, low grade low quality, pipes, tanks, and CNG cylinders. these items are freely available in the market without qualifying any inspection tests.
