ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday offered to hold talks with the opposition for amending the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws.

In reply to opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif's speech in the National Assembly, Chaudhry said the NAB chairman had been appointed by the leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after much deliberation.

"The accountability process was not initiated by us nor are we interfering in it," he said. "No matter how much noise they make, this process will not be halted as it will be a public loss."

The minister told the opposition to suggest amendments to the NAB laws for the consideration of designated committee.

mabadHe said many false terrorism cases were registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers during Shehbaz's tenure as Punjab chief minister.

"They have been ruling since ages. They didn't have money and now they are billionaires. Whoever has rules this country more than once thinks they are greater than the country itself," he said.

Lauding the PTI government's suggestion, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif termed the formation of an accountability committee a positive sign..

"A committee including Khursheed Shah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and senior government and opposition leaders should be formed," he demanded.

Asif said that confrontations between the PML-N and the PPP had created space for General Pervez Musharraf and such mistakes should not be repeated.

"Power contracts inked during the PML-N's tenure should be discussed in the lower house and audited too," he said.

Than, gradually approach them but should be done at rapid pace. I think the current government is slow in taking actions against looters. Government should go about it and execute it. A framework shall be made and than execute the process. Best of luck Pakistan.
