Saving schools: Police arrest 81 drug peddlers in two days

Seize cocaine, heroin, hashish and bottles of liquor from them

Lahore police arrested at least 81 suspects, and registered as many cases against them, for selling drugs around educational institutions over the last two days.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Lahore Police Operations Shahzad Akbar Rana said stern action was being taken against such elements in all divisions and on a daily basis. “The youth is the future of our country and they are being pushed towards drug addiction. Elements involved in such illegal activities will be dealt with.”

Rana said parents, teachers and students would have to play a role against drugs being sold at educational institutions. “Teachers and students can inform Lahore police by calling at 15 or SMS on 8330 immediately. We appeal to the public to cooperate with Lahore police to eradicate the menace of drugs from the country.”

He said all SPs, DSPs and SHOs are organising awareness lectures and walks against drugs at educational institutions. He added Lahore police was trying to eliminate drug sale points to save the future of students.

Around 14 grams of cocaine, nine grams of ice, over a kilogramme of powder, more than four kg of heroin, 25 kilogrammes of hashish as well as hundreds of bottles of liquor were seized.
