Police ensure tight security in city during Begum Kulsoom's funeral

Policemen, in three shifts, were deployed at 19 different points

LAHORE: Lahore Police made strict arrangements for the security of funeral of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz on Friday.

According to the plan, police officials, in three shifts, were deployed at 19 different points of the city. Nine vehicles of the Elite Force also remained on patrol in the metropolis.

Over 800 police officials were on duty under the supervision of three SPs, three DSPs, and six SHOs. Around 75 upper subordinates and 19 reserves of the force were also deputed.

The participants were allowed entry after passing through walk-through gates and checking with metal detectors.

Police commandoes were also deployed at the main entry and exit points.

CCPO Lahore BA Nasir was appointed as command and control in-charge and DIG Operations Shahzad Akbar as overall supervision in-charge. Chief Traffic Police Officer Liaquat Ali Malik was responsible for maintenance of traffic.

City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) prepared a comprehensive plan for maintenance of traffic. Approximately, 448 wardens, 40 patrolling officers, 30 inspectors, and eight DSPs were deployed on the occasion under the supervision of SP Sadar traffic and SP City Traffic and Chief Traffic Police Officer.

CTPL used fork lifters and break-downs to remove parking. According to the traffic plan, VVIP Parking was specified in the main ground and general parking in the parking of Sui Gas Society.  CTPL also set up diversions to maintain the flow of traffic.
