HYDERABAD:

The Sindh High Court Hyderabad bench has ordered the city government to remove all illegal bus and taxi stands on Wednesday.

Upholding the high court’s 2004 decision that allowed only two stands, the bench declared all stands, except for the ones at Badin and Halanaka, illegal.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar were hearing a petition filed by Haji Muhammad Rafique Rajput, a transporter who complained that unauthorised stops were operating against court orders. He cited the Provincial Transport Authority, Regional Transport Authority, the district government and Hyderabad DPO as respondents.

The judges reserved judgment and ordered the authorities to ensure compliance without any delays, said the petitioner’s lawyer.
