LAHORE: “We are dedicated towards helping women gain practical training in journalism while also helping them fight against bias and stereotypes,” said Women’s Media Centre Senior Programme Assistant Iraj Atiq Khan.

She expressed these views while speaking at the closing ceremony of a five-fay electronic media training course on the media’s role in the electoral process at the centre on Tuesday.

There is a lot of work which needs to be done in order to empower women, she added. The media’s role in the electoral process has been challenging through monitoring and observation, she stated.

“The new government has to face a number of challenges and obstacles in order to live up to the expectations of the people,” said Quratulain Hashmi, a reporter and a trainer.
