People demand justice and arrests of the accused during a staged protest at Ferozpur Road

LAHORE: Family members and relatives of a woman, who was allegedly tortured and burnt to death by her husband and in-laws a couple of days ago, staged a protest on Ferozpur Road on Saturday.

The protesters blocked the road  and shouted slogans against the brutal killing of the victim. They also demanded justice and arrest of the accused persons.

Police said Sonia, had a dispute with her husband Muhammad Irfan. Irfan and his family allegedly brutally tortured her, poured petrol over her and set her on fire. As a result, she sustained 50% burns on her body.

Her family took her to a local clinic where was she was treated for two days. Later, when her condition didn't improve, they took her to the Mayo Hospital, where she died after 15 days. Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of victim's father. No arrests have been made so far.
