The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has called for an end to the victimisation and exploitation of academia at the country’s leading universities.

The President of the Islamabad chapter of FAPUASA Dr Sohail Yousaf made these remarks while speaking to the delegations of varsities of Islamabad.

The faculty representatives shared various incidents of injustices including the firing of two faculty members of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on whistle-blowing, denial of academic freedom, adhocism, stoppage of salaries and harassment of faculty at the Comsats university entrance.

“Such inhumane, undemocratic and unconstitutional attitude by the university administration would not be tolerated at all and would be resisted,” Dr Sohail said.

He lamented that instead of taking faculty on board, they were victimised as varsity administration consider public sector entities as their own personal organisation.

He threated to announce an agitation movement against the victimisation of faculty at federal universities.

Comsats university is currently working on a totally interim arrangement where key positions such as the rector, registrar, treasurer and directors of four campuses are working on an adhoc basis.
