The crowd of at least 1500 comprised people from the three union councils of Ghari Sherdad, Kafoor Dheri and Panam Dheri. They complained of 18 hours of unannounced load shedding daily, even on Eid day. All staffers escaped the Warsak grid station before it was attacked by the mob.
NEPRA takes notice of increased load-shedding
The protestors claimed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) was illegally supplying electricity to factories instead of residents.
The mob entered the station and damaged machinery, including large transformers, and damaged or stole furniture and other fixtures they found at the facility.
A local police official speaking with the Express Tribune said the attackers caused damage worth at least Rs220 million to the vital grid station.

Also protesting against prolonged load shedding, around a thousand enraged villagers blocked Warsak road on Thursday and blocked traffic on the thoroughfare for several hours.
As a result at least two civilians were killed, nine injured. Three very serious injured persons were shifted to Peshawar.
