KARACHI: The Inter-Region U-19 One Day Tournament organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been marred by lack of basic facilities which is putting future of young cricketers at risk.

The tournament is currently taking place in three cities of Pakistan — Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi — simultaneously in a bid to bring forth and hone the skills of young talent in the country.

According to sources, due to the board’s mismanagement all 18 teams don’t have the services of a Physiotherapist — which is making life difficult for players participating in the tournament.

Players who have been injured over the course of the event are facing the possibility of making their injuries worse due to lack of basic medical facilities.

Cricket circles have also expressed their disappointment over this matter and were surprised to see PCB’s lack of attention towards such an important side of the game. They added that in order to make up for this mistake, the board should immediately provide, at least, the four teams reaching the semi-finals of the tournament with a physiotherapist.

The tournament — which began on August 1 — is scheduled to culminate with the final on August 28.
