Cheating spouses: Man strangles wife in front of entire village

FAISALABAD:

A man strangled his wife to death after he suspected her of having an affair. The incident occurred in Mamukanjan, nearly 75km from Faisalabad on Saturday evening.

Noor Jahan, 32, was married to Ghuam Mustafa, 51, nearly 15 years ago. The couple had three daughters and two sons. According to police officials, Noor Jahan’s brother Muhammad Ali recently moved a complaint with the area police alleging that his sister was publicly tortured by her husband Ghulam Mustafa.

“He tied her up outside his house and a large crowd gathered to see her being beaten with sticks and cut with a knife until she fainted,” Ali said.

Police officials discovered that ten years ago Ghulam Mustafa got a job in Saudi Arabia and used to return to his village in Faisalabad once every two years. During his absence, Noor Jahan allegedly developed relations with a neighbour Kashif.

Several villagers told Mustafa about his wife’s affair and on Saturday, he publicly tortured her and later strangled her with an electric wire. The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code but the accused is still at large. SHO Mamukanjan Sher Asghar told reporters that a police team had been constituted for the arrest of the accused. He said that the accused would be arrested within next 48 hours.

washaba | 13 years ago | Reply Maria and Jehanzeb, how often do you hear of similar incidents taking place in Arabia? How often do the so called 'honor killings' occur say in any of the Gulf countries? Why you guys seem to blame religion for every wrong thing a Muslim does? Is everyone with a Muslim name a practicing Muslim? And does every practicing Muslim fully know the teachings of Islam? Your attitude shows you know nothing about either Islam or religions in general. Everybody with a Muslim name is not a Muslim, and every practicing Muslim does not know the fundamentals of Islam. So please stop talking about religion, and blame it on the person. You guys out there seem to be so much brainwashed by the media - especially western - that you don't seem to have your own independent thought. If the same incident took place in some western country (and they do happen there as well) and was committed by some Christian (and they do commit them too), how many of you would blame Christianity for that?? The media is so biased, and many folks out there so blind!! When a condemnable act is committed by someone with a Muslim name, they first show their religion. But when the same act is committed by a non-muslim, religion takes a back seat. Take the example of Indian media. Muslims (rather those with Muslim names) are not the only terrorist there. In fact Maoists (who happen to be mostly Hindus) in India have killed more than Muslims have. Have you heard the phrase 'Hindu terrorists'? LTTE in Sri Lanka were doing what Kashmiris, or for that matter any freedom fighters, do. Was their act blamed on Hinduism? You guys must clear up your minds. Be independent thinkers and don't follow what biased media tout. The particular act above is certainly condemnable, and must be condemned. But blaming the teachings of Islam or the man's staying in SA are stupid acts.
