KARACHI: The three suspects, Shahrukh, Ahsan and Maaz, involved in the rape and attempted murder of a girl at a farm house in Guslhan-e-Maymar on Friday, were given in police custody on a physical remand till August 17, by District West Judicial Magistrate, on Saturday.

While seeking physical remand, the police told the court that the victim was a resident of Landhi and had come to Gulshan-e-Maymar to meet her boyfriend, Shahrukh, after she had a dispute with her family.

According to the police, Shahrukh tricked the victim by offering her a tour of the farm house and along with his three accomplices gained access to the farmhouse by paying the guard. There, the girl was made to consume alcohol.

The victim had an altercation with Shahrukh over the presence of his friends. Shahrukh locked her in a room with Faizan, who raped her. She lost consciousness and the suspects then tried to strangulate her to death. Believing that the girl was dead, they threw her into the bushes and Faizan fled the scene. The other three however, took her to the hospital where the staff suspecting foul play contacted the police.

The police arrested the three suspects and shifted the girl to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors confirmed the consumption of alcohol, rape and attempted strangulations as marks were found on her neck. On Saturday, a police officer of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station presented the suspects in the court and requested a 14-day physical remand for investigation. The court handed over the suspects to police custody for a six-day physical remand.
