“I have also apologised before court for the statement during electioneering,” he said in a video statement issued on Friday.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader clarified that he only wanted to point out social flaws and did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Buying and selling people’s votes is also part of the social defects, he added.
“However, I apologise if anyone’s sentiments are hurt by my statement.”
Pervez Khattak tenders apology to ECP in foul language case
The video apology comes two days after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) asked for a video of Khattak apologising for his actions as evidence.
On Wednesday, the former K-P chief minister tendered an unconditional apology before a four-member bench of the electoral body, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza, and Khattak was represented by his counsel Bashir Mohmand.
The counsel of the senior PTI leader had maintained that the words used were “unintentional” and Khattak has expressed regret for the same.
