Nawaz says Begum Kulsoom's condition 'serious'

LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif termed Begum Kulsoom Nawaz's condition as serious and said she has not regained consciousness since he arrived in London.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday in the British capital, Nawaz further said he was informed of Begum Kulsoom's condition after his arrival and asked the nation to pray for her well-being.

Elaborating further, the three-time premier said he wishes to spend as much time as possible with his ailing wife and.

On June 14, Nawaz and daughter Maryam left for London after being granted a brief exemption from the ongoing corruption trial involving members of the Sharif family.

While the father and daughter were en route to the British capital, Begum Kulsoom suffered a cardiac arrest and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and placed on a ventilator.
