1. Chalay Thay Saath
While Chalay Thay Saath is mainly a romantic film, it also focuses on a father-daughter relationship. Starring Syra Shahroz and Behroz Sabzwari, the film shows Resham (Syra) leaving her city life behind to go live with her father (Behroz). Chalay Thay Saath shows a father who is protective of his daughter as she falls in love with a Chinese boy.
2. Finding Nemo
This Disney classic is sure to make you shed a few tears. Released in 2003, Finding Nemo features a father goldfish Martin, on a quest to find his son after the latter has been taken away by sea divers. As a paranoid Martin travels across the oceans, he faces numerous challenges that stop him from reaching his son, Nemo. Martin also befriends a blue tang, Dory who suffers from short-term memory loss.
3. Piku
Starring Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, this Bollywood film focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between a father and his short-tempered daughter. Bhaskor Banerjee essayed by Amitabh suffers from digestion problems while Piku played by Deepika, sacrifices her desires to help her ailing father. The two go on a road trip together as Piku exhibits utmost patience in dealing with her constipated, aging father.
4. The Pursuit of Happyness
Featuring one of Hollywood's finest actor Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness shows a single father's struggle to make ends meet while taking care of his five-year-old son. Jaden Smith, Will's real life son plays his on-screen son as well. The story takes viewers on an emotional journey as Chris Gardener (Will) and his son are evicted from their apartment, leaving them homeless and broke. The Pursuit of Happyness shows how parents take extreme measures to shield their children from sadness.
5. Wake Up Sid!
With Ranbir Kapoor and Anupam Kher in the lead, the film shows an irresponsible son, Sid (Ranbir) who has gotten everything in life. He is unable to do well in college or handle his father's business as he is used to the carefree life. As Sid leaves his house after failing at university, he realises that nothing in the world is obtained without hard work and everything his father told him was true. He tries to pursue a career in photography to prove himself to his wealthy businessman of a father, Ram Mehra (Anupam).
