RAHIM YAR KHAN: An man allegedly beat his son to death and injured his wife and daughter in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday.

A police official told Express News that Saira Anjum, a resident of Rehman Colony, demanded money for Eid shopping from her husband Imran Mughal who was under the influence of alcohol.  This enraged Imran and an argument occurred between the couple over the matter.

When the arguments escalated, the accused started beating Saira, his 12-year-old son Zeeshan and nine-year-old daughter Khushi with an iron rod. As a result, Zeeshan suffered critical injuries on the head and died on the spot, while Saira and Khushi were injured.

After hearing hue and cry, people from the neighbourhood reached the spot and shifted the victims to a local hospital for treatment. They also caught the accused and handed him over to the police.

Residents said that accused Imran had been involved in criminal activities in the past. They said the culprit also tried to sexually assault a girl sometime back. However, locals intervened and thrashed him. Later, the accused left the area and shifted to another colony.

The locals demanded of the police and authorities concerned to award strict punishment to the suspect.

The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a woman died in a road accident near Mureed Shakh. The police said that Bashir Soomro was travelling in a car with his sister Gul Bibi, daughter Naheed Bibi, son Ismaeel and a minor girl when he lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

As a result, the car fell into a ditch resulting in the death of Gul Bibi while the others suffered injuries. Rescue officials shifted the injured and deceased to Rahim Yar Khan Hospital for treatment and legal formalities.
