Remixing old classics into new ones to produce chart-topping numbers has been going on for quite a while. Songs such as Laila Main Laila featuring Sunny Leone and Ek Do Teen with Jacqueline Fernandes have caught the young generation's attention. However, not everyone is happy with the winds of change, reported The Indian Express.

Bollywood's revered playback singer, Lata Mangeshkar has been deeply affected by remixes of old Bollywood melodies. Mangeshkar wrote, "Remixing the songs in itself is not a problem. To keep the song’s essence alive and to present a recreated version of the same is actually a good thing. But to upset the very structure and words of the original song is something that is disheartening to see."

The 88-year-old singer then cited names of some of the most famous artists of Bollywood, who by their passion and talent, created the golden era of the industry. Mangeshkar also urged record companies to make sure that the classics are not misused by the youngsters in the industry.

She concluded, "To maintain the purity and originality of Indian songs is the responsibility of the recording companies. However, it looks like that those very companies have forgotten their duties. I request these companies in question to look at songs as not only a means of money-making but as something that reflects our culture."
