ISLAMABAD:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday announced to nominate its candidates from every constituency of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) in the upcoming elections.

“The MQM stands by the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination and legitimate rights,” said federal minister and deputy convener of coordination committee Dr Farooq Sattar while revealing the party’s manifesto for AJK at a press conference.

“The MQM demands that the decision about the future of Kashmir should be made keeping in view the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

Detailing his party’s policy regarding the selection of its candidates, Sattar said that “merit would be the criterion for awarding party tickets,” and a cell has been set up to scrutinize the applications.

Sattar said his party’s manifesto, among other things, includes a package for the people affected by Mangla Dam for getting their rightful share in royalties for the electricity generated from the dam.
