PU regularises 169 contract employees

LAHORE: As many as 169 employees of Punjab University working on daily wages, contract and ad-hoc basis since more than five years have been regularised after approval of provisional Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen on the recommendations of selection committee.

According to the notification issued on Tuesday, the non-teaching employees working in BS-1 to BS-5 who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the posts and have at least five years’ continuous service at their credit have been regularised with immediate effect. However, these are not the employees that have been protesting for not getting their contracts renewed by the previous administration.

Moreover, employees working on women quota, minority quota and disable quota have also been regularized. The appointees will have to submit their joining within seven days. The news created wave of joy and happiness among the PU employees who thanked PU VC Dr Nasira Jabeen, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan and Additional Registrar II Malik Muhammad Zaheer for making efforts for their regularisation and resolving their long-standing issues.
